In spite of the huge number of TV channels available (and I don't have Sky or access to Netflix etc) I find myself listening more and more to the radio. There's something rather comforting about it, especially in the winter, and some current favourites are Cerys Matthews and Guy Garvey on Sundays on Radio 6, and on Radio 3 Private Passions and the wonderful Words and Music. In fact, Radio 3 plays particularly gorgeous music at this time of year.

Anyone have any particular favourites they'd recommend?

I'm listening to Elaine Paige at the moment on Radio 2. Michael Ball was on before this. Love my radio.
Politics late night R5 live.
I agree that its very comforting, unlike the TV which is more intrusive. I like to have something to listen to and the company while I do something else, whereas the TV requires more of my attention.

I like radio 2 in the mornings on the away to work and the Elaine Paige slot at the weekend. I need to explore radio 6 more.

Yes, I love discovering new things - in all aspects of life, not just the radio
I`m never without the radio. My local station is Radio Jackie and I love it. I have radio in every room. I think radio is such good company because the DJ speaks directly to the listener which people on the TV don't really do.
As you obviously have internet access .. if you ever feel you need for a quiet reflective moment .. try this.

Select the .. 'free stream'
Get a glass of wine and sit back and just listen.
If you become addicted .. spend the $30 on the 'Pure Stream' .. and you will need more wine.
