prunes are supposed to be good, don't know how true that is, but that is what i remember as a child.
dulco ease you can get from the chemists, its supposed to be effective.
I am waiting to have an operation and have been told to bring dried fruit snacks ( which includes prunes) to counteract the effects of very powerful painkillers, so these are considered natural laxatives by the medicos.
just plenty of fluid should do it, but it depends on the time frame. Prunes and other foods may take a day or more to be effective.
Yes....lots of fluids. You can get prunes in juice form.
.....and reduce your meat consumption for a few days in favour of more fruit and veg.
I do know that prune juice is used in care homes as a pleasant, effective laxative. It contains lots of sorbitol (a sugar alcohol) which has the desired effect.
Sennakot is natural laxative and comes in both liquid and tablet form.
Eating two or three portions of fruit per day, plus getting additional fibre from wholemeal bread, porridge, etc, should be all that most people would normally need.

If, like me, you happen to love liquorice, then that's something else to try.
STRONG black coffee....or cider..the real stuff..does it for me !!

Lactulose, gentle and mild. Dosage can be increased if required . No cramps colic unlike some heavy duty ones .
