Pain In Upper Stomach

For a few days now, I have had pain in my upper left hand stomach, right below my breast. It can be calm for a few minutes but then a shooting pain goes through to my back. Its in the area of my spleen. Any clues? I m in process of establishing what is causing nausea over the past year. A gall stone was found but small and unlikely to be the cause.

From your short and inadequate description, it could be anything.
BUT.....put your money on shingles and watch out for the rash to develop.

I always ask on this site, doctors not always the most knowledable. I had an endoscopy on Thursday which showed up 'erosive gastritis'. Biopsy results mid Jan. Plus another scan lined up. I am getting well looked after by NHS and very pleased with them.
