I useBoots' own brand sweetners, 1000 in a tub, but for some reason, they've stopped making them, so when I finish this lot then what? So, have any ABers had the same problem and what sweetners have you used instead of Boots' own and do they taste more or less the same? Ta Muchly.

I use Hermesetas for my tea but I've given up sweetneers and milk in my coffee now.
Aldi, cheap as chips and taste alright.
Sugar is FAR less harmful that artificial sweeteners and MUCH cheaper. Just use it in moderation. A single teaspoonful in a cup of tea/coffee a few times a day will not put any extra weight on you. There has been a huge amount of scaremongering about sugar. (all unjustified) No prizes of guessing who is behind it!

By heck Lady, great swift response!...what did the H taste like and did you ever try the Boots?
Question Author
Douglas or Eddie, who to go for?...Aldi or sugar, what a dilemma!...still, using a sweetner means one less spoon to wash up and dry, eh!...smile!
I use Splenda.
No idea what Boots own brand were like.
I use silver spoon, sweetens but there's aftertaste that I've found with others.
On this occasion I agree with Eddie 100%. At least sugar is natural, I'm sure some day we will be told that all artificial sweeteners are carcinogenic, some already have been over the years.
'One less Spoon to wash up? I assume you have never seen a sugar dispenser?
Saves putting a potentially contaminated spoon in the sugar and contaminating the whole lot as well .

That's a new one on me OG and an after taste puts me off SS, Darcey - might try Splenda - or...?
By the way I used to put sugar in Coffee (never drink tea). After a while you get so used to the taste of unsweetened coffee/tea that putting sugar in it makes you feel sick. My Mum used to say that Tea with sugar in it was ''Poison'' .
I'm diabetic so avoid sugar. I haven't not sweetened my hot drinks for the last 40 years but I do use Stevia on my porridge. It's plant based and calorie free. I like it
Sorry, meant to say there is NO aftertaste that i have experienced with other brands.

No Eddie, I have never seen a sugar dispenser - or felt one - but I think I'll stick to my whisky and dry and forget all about tea and coffee - and by no means belittling HC's problems. Hi Prudie, how ya doing?
Woodelf, don't you remember the greasy spoon cafes of the 60s and 70s that used sugar dispensers? Usually a glass jar with dimples for easy grip and a stainless steel lid that had a sort of funnel on top that dispensed one spoon of sugar when you tipped it up.
That nice Mr Google tells me that Boots sweeteners contain only saccharin (whereas other sweeteners might contain acesulfame K, aspartame, sorbitol, sucralose, stevia or xylitol). So it would seem to make sense for you to seek out an alternative which is also based solely upon saccharin.

The most widely sold brand seems to be Sweetex. Tesco sell packs of 1200 for £2.90. Packs of 600 are more commonly sold elsewhere, priced as follows:
Asda £1.89
Tesco £1.90
Sainsbury's £1.90
Superdrug £1.99
Strange, because IMO saccharin is the sweetener with the worst aftertaste of all.
I've never used them....gave up sugar in coffee decades ago and have never drunk tea.

No HC, the cafes in my misspelt yoof just had ketchup dispensers which had stuff like bunches of raisins round the top! - and yet again, another comprehensive answer from Buenchico - fair makes me feel I should be paying him/her a retainer!...I love me exclammers, eh?...that's enough guys, as it gets more and more diff to try and reply with this screen reader and the AB site, but Great Thanks To All!
Hi woodelf and Merry Christmas to you if we don't cross paths before then. I will admit I'm a tea and 3 sugars girl.
