That’s all he wants for Xmas. He doesn’t even want a flash one - as long as it can get the Internet he’s happy. Don’t really want to spend more than £70 as want to get him a few extra bits. Any recommendations??

Sorry guys, had to nip out as soon as I posted the question. (I’m just outside London)

Amazon Fire ..... will have quick look online....
Another vote for the Fire.
The only downside to the Fire is you're tied into Amazon apps I believe, I'd also look at some of the cheaper android tablets such as Lenovo E7, £70 from PC world.
7 if he only wants the internet that won't matter

He wants email too
You can email with a fire. You can also sideload the Google App Store easily and most (not all) of the apps there will work okay
There aren't many big name companies and services that don't have an app available from amazon. Email apps are available
Some reviews here if you are not yeyt convinced to get the Fire :)

I'd also go for the Fire....performs better than just about all tablets at this price point. I'd also pay an extra £10 for the "without special offers" version.
