Theland, the whole basis of your argument is that science cannot answer all the questions precisely so something for which there is no evidence whatsoever must have been responsible. You further claim that, despite the complete absence of evidence for its existence, you know what that something was. Not exactly conclusive is it.

It doesn't explain the way life started, because we don't know yet. But remember that apparent design doesn't mean actual design. A snowflake's shape arises from the molecular structure of water, which produces beautiful patterns quite naturally. A river can have an intricate shape, but its shape is determined by natural forces such as gravity and erosion.

Theland. Another thought. Genuine seeking for the truth involves first admitting that we don't know the answers to everything, and then continuing to search. If we simply say that there must be an answer, and we give that answer a name like 'God', then don't ask any more questions, then we have given up the search. If there is a god, I would hope that it would respect the seeker more than the simply obedient. God just takes away all the real mystery of life.

Well, I have thoughts, but I don't think I'm clever enough to come up with new insights. It would be difficult to come up with something better than "do unto others as you would wish to be done by." That's my view, but not original; most religions and great thinkers have had that as a precept, and I don't think it can be bettered.
