When I was diagnosed with bronchiecstasis around August and had a lung infection I started to get a pain behind my right lung. No infections or coughs now but still get the pain in my back behind the lung when I Have been standing for a long time. Feels like it is muscle deep inside. Also getting tummy aches now in upper abdomen at front on and off almost like food poisoning but no other symptoms. I have been taking small amounts of raw garlic for my immune system daily and wonder if this causes the tummy ache .....Any ideas?

Is the pain sharp like a stitch or dull like a thud?

You 'may' have a slight garlic intolerance?

Garlic is powerful, it can cause slight burning feelings in the mouth and stomach / throat when eaten raw.
Question Author
It's dull, feels like lower back ache.
//When taken by mouth, garlic can cause bad breath, a burning sensation in the mouth or stomach, heartburn, gas, nausea, vomiting, body odor, and diarrhea. These side effects are often worse with raw garlic//
Would a deep breath increase / exaggerate the pain?
Question Author
I have been taking garlic every morning for a couple of months with no side effects but wondered if this was irritating the stomach in the last three or four days...
Question Author
No.. A deep breath makes no difference. When I sit down for a while it goes off a bit.
If it was initially OK when i would assume it would continue to be OK, so it goes back to the bronchiecstasis. This could be pain caused by inflammation from the bronchiecstasis.

You may have another infection. I would see GP.
Alternatively, it could just be back pain. Have you done any physical labour recently or maybe over worked some higher muscles?
Question Author
No physical labour. If it was an infection would I be feeling ill and would it have now come around to the front upper abdomen ache that I have ??
I'm not at all sure. I'm less inclined to think that is is an infection if it is more of a dull pain. Also if a deep breath does not exaggerate pain then that is more reason to rule out infection.
Most lung issues are a sharp pain. The dull pain really makes me think it's more muscular and less serious, but any spreading of pain in the chest is a potential cause for concern

thanks so much, I think I had better have a word with doctor tomorrow.
As regards the garlic, I would recommend you switch to eating black garlic which has a far less irritant effect on the stomach, and doesn't even taste or smell like raw garlic, so doesn't have any anti-social effects.
The nutritional value is maintained, or even concentrated, so it is very beneficial.
It is normal garlic that is aged by special conditions of heat and humidity. The cloves inside end up becoming jet black, very soft, like a thick paste, and almost sweet. It can be eaten by itself, or used in cooking to add a sort of umami taste, in the same sort of category as tamarind, though not as sharp.

It lasts for ages, for weeks and weeks, in the fridge.
