Walking behind a lady, I was admiring her very beautiful coat.
There was an obvious vent/flap in the centre behind her knees.
There seemed to be stitches at the bottom of this so it wasn’t actually flapping just gaping.
Is one supposed to remove the stitch....why is it there?
Thank you

Think I would remove the stitch - sure it's just there to keep the vent closed while being displayed.
I have a similar confusion when I find a suit jacket has it's pockets sewn up. Tailoring is weird.
I think pockets are stitched up to stop people putting things in them when they're trying them on.
I had an amusing incident whilst trying on an anorak on a market stall; I stuck my hand in the pocket and found a cheque book. I showed it to the stall holder and it turned out his son had been using it, got caught with a sudden shower and stuffed it into the nearest coat pocket on his stall to keep it dry. That had been weeks before and he'd wondered where it had gone.

Thank you Maggie.
Yes OG, it did bring that to my mind.
Old G on my best suits I always leave pockets sown so they never get any clutter in them.
I leave smart jackets stitched...keeps the line..
possibly intending to return for refund - like wearing a dress with price tag attached ie HRH ;)
So; where do you keep your clutter ?
Tambo you do make me smile x. OG dont have much clutter when wearing suit just mobile and wallet which fit in inside pockets.
