It's interesting the way the French riot about everything pretty much as the first course of action. It's because of their revolutionary history I think.

Our history since 1066 is one of being servile to our aristocracy and royalty (ie the Norman conquerors), so we just grumble and moan about stuff - maybe write a strongly worded letter to the guardian - but pretty much put up with it as 'just the way things are'.

I'm not making any political point here, just musing on things randomly.
