I want to find out my grandads WW1 war records. I know he was in the RFA as a driver. But would like to know what regiment he was in , i believe he was mentioned in dispatches. I would like to find any info about his time at the Somme and Ypres.

Any suggestions please

It's the Mormons. You have to sign up, give name, email etc., but you can make them up, and they don't ask for money (just your soul).

They have most of the same data as Ancestry (which is HUGELY expensive!)

Ask at your local library if they have free access to Ancestry. My local library - here in Wales - offers free one hour introductory sessions and I found a lot of information duting just one session.
Unsure they've war records though.
Some sites do a sort of 'pay as you search' system. Might be an option for you if you don't want an annual sub.
He should have received an oak leaf like this if was mentioned in Dispatches. https://goo.gl/images/t5jbtA
You could try here. You have to sign up with an email address but there is no charge. I don't know if this site only refers to casualties though.
