I am considering getting an Amazon Fire 7 which is in the sale at the moment.

My Samsung android tablet is past its sell by date and drives me potty. It is so slow and unresponsive.

Will I be able to import the photographs I have on it on to a new Amazon Fire?

I suspect that you'd need to do it in two stages. i.e. transfer the files from your Android tablet to a Windows PC (or laptop) first and then transfer them from the PC/laptop to the Fire 7. Both of those operations are fairly straightforward but I don't know of a direct route.
You will, but you should be aware that the Fire 7 is a much lower spec than the Samsung in every respect.

Thank you both for those answers.

The Chair, my Samsung doesn't work properly and drives me up the wall. I just need something fairly basic but do want to be able to save the photos.
Tilly, have you tried resetting your Samsung to factory default, after you’ve backed up your photos, of course. It will give new life to it.

I transferred my photos and videos to my PC and then did a factory reset. It has taken me all this time to get everything set up again. However, it is much quicker and seems to be behaving itself.

Thank you all for your advice.
That's great - and you also have a back up of everything :)

I tend to reset my devices every year or so, takes time but it's worth the effort.

I did do a back up in a google account, HC, but I don't know how to retrieve it. Luckily, it was only my photos that I was concerned about and they are now stored on my laptop.
(Actually, it was two videos of my beloved, but now deceased, German Shepherd that I particularly wanted to save.)

Everything else is downloadable again. That's why I have spent all day staring at a screen and fiddling about.
Just log in to your google account from any device connected to the internet to see your photos and videos.
