Just tried watching this, the background music is so off-putting, I gave up. Wont bother again!

Gave up watching this a long time ago.Absolutely ruined by Sandi Toksvig.Hope it won't be long before it's lights out for her on T.V..
I agree. Why does every programme have to have background music - unnecessary on any programme.
You're right there, Gill. Lots of programmes ruined with unnecessary background music.
Can't stand this version - ruined by Sandi Toksvig (never off TV nowadays), and the fact that they've stretched a half-hour format to an hour.
Sadly, William G. Stewart is no longer around, but he must be spinning in his grave, as he used to be the producer of this quiz.
I have an unreasonable dislike of Sandi Toksvig, she absolutely set my teeth on edge and I have t turn anything off she's in ( which is probably grossly unfair of me as I daresay she's a very nice woman) but I can't stand her :/
I have fond memories of this programme - I was on it 8 times :)
I haven't watched this for a while despite being quite a fan of Sandi but do agree that some programmes don't require all the background music they have.
Well done, goodgoalie
I used to enjoy it with William G Stewart.
I like this quiz programme mainly because there isn't too much small talk ... just quiz questions fired out a rate. Like Sandi too. Each to his own. Can't say i've noticed the music ...will pay more attention today!
goodgoalie ... how did you do on your 8 appearances?
Roslyn, you say you like it because the questions are fired oiut at a rate and not too much small talk. Believe me, when William G. was doing it the format was exactly the same, but it only lasted half an hour. Absolutely no hanging around, no coming back for a second chance - no prisoners taken!

I've got no problem with Sandi, it's the music I find irritating. If it aint broke, don't fix it!

I watch it because I like Quizzes, I manage to kind of ignore the poison dwarf as much as possible, not easy when she's asking the questions.
I agree with... If it aint broke, don't fix it !
I've only seen a few since William G Stewart but haven't noticed the music. I have nothing against Sandi but haven't bothered with QI since Stephen Fry left.
I've tried to sit and watch it a few times but it just doesn't hold my attention, well done you goodgoalie getting onto it 8 times, would you go on it now with Sandi hosting it?
Now that the programme carries a £40,000 prize, do they have to make it longer to fit in more ad breaks?
The one time I watched the new version there WAS a lot of small talk. Inane banter with the contestants. That and the overlong format put me off.
On Fridays programme was Diane Hanahan who has been on nearly everything including winning £250.000 on WWTBAM. in 2001 She was knocked out half way through the programme but will be back on Monday
I think it's unfair people get a second chance now
I've been on the version with Sandi -- agree that it's a little slower-paced than the heady days of William G. Stuart, but still seemed fun, and at least a fairly high standard of quizzing on show.
