I was cold called yesterday from Utilita about switching from SE. Has anyone any experience in switching to this company, the chap was very convincing, saying that it wouldn't cost me anything to switch and that I could save money, also that their system of topping up the metre is far easier. Any help and advice much appreciated, thanks.

Haven't heard of them, but maybe you could have a look at the Martin Lewis website to see what he says about them (if anything). Good luck.
Sorry you probably can't read that if you are not a Which member.
However it gets quite a good write-up coming 5th out of 31 suppliers of Pay as You Go utility companies with a score of 75%. Hope that helps.

That makes interesting reading ladybirder, looks very favourable.
SaintP, Utility Warehouse gets top billing from Which so check that out before committing yourself. Good luck.
i confess i wouldn't take on them if they cold called me, i am very wary where it comes to utility companies.
But if you read the report and are happy with that then go for it.
on reading that I wouldn't do it.

SlackAlice, wow, there is a lot of negative stuff on there, it's got me thinking!
I had a Utilita rep knock on my door a year or so ago, and he was just as convincing as yours. But something didn't ring true, and I never sign or agree to anything on my doorstep. I did some googling and got some very, very negative results. I'd keep away.
Like Emmie, I wouldn't consider using any firm who cold calls.
OK. Here is one that gets Brilliant Reviews on both Which and Trust Pilot. I give up if this fails. Don't anyone dare say they're rubbish on pain of death;-))

^^^exactly the same as woofgang...
I use Briiliant Energy (but not paygo)

Their costs are less than I was paying SSE last year.

Thanks everyone for your comments. I have decided NOT to switch to Utilita, they failed to send me a 'Welcome' book, despite the agent telling me I'd receive one in a couple of days, they also failed to put into writing that I would not pay anymore than I am already paying, plus I have just tried to phone their helpline to ask about these queries and I was put on hold, after waiting 7 minutes I gave up! I have now emailed them and told them I wish to cancel, as per the 14 days cooling off period.
good luck with that, personally i am with EDF who haven't been too bad overall.
