Having - I think - established that the reason the printer won't print from the just-downloaded OpenOffice (see my post on Saturday) is that it does not recognise OO, and I reckon the solution will be to uninstall the printer (HP ENVY 4520 ) then re-install it on the computer. I'm extra-wary, as it's a friend's computer. Thanks

Thanks. I'm just wondering if I click on 'install' if the computer will tell me that it has already been installed and take me to where I can uninstall it. Don't want to ****-up my friend's computer!
If its updated drivers, then it should overwrite the existing ones.

Thanks for that, Chris, have written it down, and I'll see if my friend trusts me to do it!
When you say 'Restart the computer', do you mean just shut it down in the normal way after clicking 'remove device', then start it up again?
Yes, that's it, GG.
