Just read in the paper that the police have raided the home of two of the men (father and son) arrested in connection with the bonfire burning of the Grenfell Tower effigy.

Why?

The men for the most part went voluntarily to the police station and one can but assume at this stage have admitted to doing it. So what are the police looking for? The evidence is a pile of ashes in the garden. Are they looking for nursery style scissors and sticky tape?

What they did was in very poor taste and crass beyond belief and people are rightly outraged but I do think this is overkill.

yup guilty as charged. I cant resist quoting back betises ( = rank gormless stupidities conceived in drink most likely) to their authors in an effort to clarify. These are often mistaken as spiteful attempts to mercilessly ridicule original pensees of deep thinking posters.
When will someone take responsibility for the fire? Officials knew it was a hazard waiting to happen. There were more than enough warning signs.

Let alone responsibility for the horrid joke.. what about the actual lifes that were lost?

spaff - they dont
( people dont take responsibility for their mistakes. They are human. ) Responsibility is / may be imposed

I have heard a few people (beareaved parents) exclaim - after four years we want answers!
at Coroner's, disciplinary, tribunal, inquiry
they ask the same questions as before and get the same answers. They exclaim - welll that is no good - we didnt get any answer again!

No one stands up and says - yes I was the one who killed your son.daughter etc.
Of course, and there isn't one person to blame.. which is guess is the issue. A bunch of people now shift in their chairs coughing "well, weren't me gov" but collectively, it was.
