Thats a good range of birds Rowan, especially with a bird of prey around!
Being a Londoner I only recognise pigeons. But whenever I go abroad I marvel at the birds I see, unfortunately I don't know I what they are.
Some are brightly coloured, and their sounds!!
Goldcrests make a lovely sound, don't they?
Did you not see any ducks?
Oh, yes. The golden eye, sorry.
Wonderful, rowan , I'm quite jealous!

Quite often the common birds go unnoticed but sometimes I like to do a quick patch list to keep my eye in. We should have a few more on the reservoir later in the winter but Bartley Res. was Bill oddie's childhood patch and he writes of weeks without a single bird. It's not that much better now because the sailing club tends to drive them away.
This afternoon saw a beautiful Red Kite hovering low over my head - this year's been the first I've seen them here in the north Cotswolds
Question Author
Love red kites, or Stokenchurch pigeons as we christened them after a trip down the M40 when we saw over a hundred.
