Why is there a stigma about using hearing aids?
People are quite happy to wear spectacles, false teeth, even toupees, but deaf people will not use hearing aids, prefering to go through life saying "What?" "Eh?" "Pardon".
Why on earth won't they get a hearing aid?
This question brought about by my f-in-law who says "pardon" every time you speak to him and has the telly really loud when we aren't there, but insists he does not have a hearing problem.

i don't think there is one.

it seems only to bother the people who may have to have one - no-one else cares.

there is far more stigma attached to toupes, but i suppose that is purely vanity.
I wear one and I don't feel away about it. It is the attitude of other people and their stupid questions, like,
"what's that in your ear?"
I think the people of this country are not really deaf aware and more should be done.
