While eBay started out as a site where mainly pre-used goods were offered by auction, these days over 90% of sales there are of new items sold at a fixed price. So it's a direct rival to Amazon Marketplace.

As I indicated above, I don't buy from there very often but I have found some excellent personalised items (such as a Sheffield Wednesday wallet printed with my young grandson's name on it) on eBay at really low prices.

A set of 20 bore shotgun cleaning implements. When I went to put them away I found a set of 20 bore cleaning implements that I had previously bought and forgotten about....
I am shortly about to buy some 3mm thick 6"x 55" cowhide.

Some rather pricey Vitamin C...cheaper than Amazon.
Most of my clothes come from eBay...gently used and always in excellent condition. All my boots...mostly brand new and 1/3+ less than high street prices.
