thought it was free - however I have received two letters from Debt Recovery (Department for Communities) within past 3 days asking me to complete a form so that they can recover their monies re my accident.

Being picked up by ambulance, admittance to A&E and X-rays.

Don't even know if I am going to get compensation yet. Do any of you know about this.

That's been going on for years, conne.
NHS treatment is free at the point of delivery but they can if compensation is paid recovery certain costs.

ok - thanks

I've been in two serious RTCs over last 20 years or so, Ambulance to A & E, X-rays etc, never been asked for payment.
Balders
I have also. Both on private motorcycles RTC's. I was made aware by NHS letter that I owed x amount ( this was in mid 70's) for ambulance casualty pick up to hospital That was news to me but I passed the letter on to my Insurance company to deal with. The other party was summoned and went to court for Sec 2 RTA and I assume my Insurance reclaimed the NHS charges from his Insurance.
I presume JJ that these are not invoices but are asking for details - if they came from these people then simply give them those details or ask you solicitor.

no they're not invoices Mamy - just details of the accident and the name of my solicitor per se
Fair enough, hope it gets sorted soon.

any compo I get will go towards the clackers LOL
Of course :-)
RTAs - the hospitals can recover costs
see retrocops entry which is helpful
the insurance company will/would pay but you have to claim off them
which is the whole point - the NHS isnt conning you - they are plugging into funds from insurance companies who have after all undertaken the risk
so fill out the forms
I have checked your previous posts
fill out the form in the name of your solicitor
and post back

you are overthinking if you start saying o what if this and o what if that....and if I do X and they do Y will Z happen?
The idea of compo is to put you back to where you were
not to enable you to redecorate or go on holiday
Question Author
thank you PP

by the way - will never ever be going on a plane ever - in fact I hope no holidays. My home is my castle. I'm as warm as a bug in a rug with my lovely dug. What more can you ask for.
In the event of an accident the NHS will recover their costs from the insurance company. So you need to tell them the details of your insurance . If you were hit by a car or other vehicle it is the drivers insurance that pays NOT you.
