I insist, after looking into it a bit further, that Trangenderism is delusional, and the people it affects need help, not accommodation or condemnation.
Just like any other mental illness or deviation, it needs treatment.
Pandering to the delusion of Transgenderism helps nobody.

Oh dear......understanding of people who are different from you is really not your strong point.
What about others, gay, lesbian?
Maybe pop back and see us after you complete the course dealing with your own sky dwelling fairy fantasies, there's a good fella.

Theland........you do not stand alone on this topic as I for one agree with you.
insist all you like....it doesn't make your opinion any more right
....and, perhaps personal experience of the subject may change your views?
Being transgender is not a mental disorder. It cannot be "cured" with treatment. Transgender people experience a persistent disconnect between their assigned sex and their internal sense of who they are, and professionals refer to this disconnect as gender dysphoria because it can cause pain and distress in the lives of transgender people.

In 2012 it was announced that a new version of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM-5) would replace the term "gender identity disorder" with the more neutral term "gender dysphoria."

Sex and gender are two different concepts. A person's sex refers to his or her biological status as either male or female. The determination of a person's sex depends primarily on various physical characteristics, including chromosomes, reproductive anatomy and sex hormones.
Gender is a societal construct that deals with the expected behaviours, roles and activities typically associated with the different sexes.Gender roles, which vary across cultures, influence how people act and feel about themselves.
Sexual orientation is different from gender identity. Sexual orientation is a person's physical, emotional or romantic attraction to another person, while gender identity is about one's own sense of self. Transgender people may be straight, lesbian, gay or bisexual. For example, a person born with male genitalia may transition to being female but may be attracted to females. In this case, the person may identify as lesbian even though she was born with male genitalia.

moggymay...........

"For example, a person born with male genitalia may transition to being female but may be attracted to females. In this case, the person may identify as lesbian even though she was born with male genitalia."

Sorry....I just don't understand your point.....

If a person is born a male...may develop gender dysphoria, but is attracted to males........then how can he/she be a Lesbian?

I didn't think that lesbians were attracted to males.
// I insist, after looking into it a bit further, that Trangenderism is delusional//

And many think Religions of all denominations are delusional -are they also mentally ill?
Sqad could I ask you to read the paragraph again please?

Alan is born male but identifies as female Alana . Alana is attracted to Jane who is a female with Lesbian sexual orientation. Because Alana now identifies as female and Alana's sexual attraction is towards females, he is attracted to Jane. Jane may or may not be attracted to Alana, who is identifying as a female.
Sqad, my main point to answer the Original Question is

"Being transgender is not a mental disorder. It cannot be "cured" with treatment. "
moggy...yes....I have re-read that paragraph and agree that i have misread it it.
Not an easy concept or read for the likes of me.;-)
moggy...your last post, crossed posted.
I agree that gender dysphoria is not a medical disorder.
I would not say it is a mental condition. I would say it's more of a personality disorder. It is a confusing condition especially for those who don't know people going through it and especially for people who have never come close to wanting to transition themselfs. One thing i can say is that it's none of your business really Theland and spreading hate is the opposite of helpful. Words like delusional and mental illness really don't help any discussion, especially when you insist with a lack of medical, psychological or sociological knowledge.
As I have said before I have experience of a member of family ( not blood related) who has come out and said they have gender dysphoria. Considering their background and childhood experiences I would conclude it is a mental disorder and a kind of coping strategy for possible abuse in the past. They have a very 'flaky' personality and have had counselling which I gather was the main reason for 'coming out'. I have yet to meet their 'other personality' but I'm convinced its a personality disorder and can't see why it cannot be treated if the person wants treatment. If they are happy living like that then as long as they aren't doing themselves or anyone else harm I seriously can't see the problem.
I must be getting old because I really don't give a tuppeny cuss for this nonsense. I'll only worry when some hairy nonce (who "identifies as female" today) pitches up in the ladies' changing rooms whilst Mrs NJ is getting dressed after a swim. Other than that I really don't care. If the authorities are stupid enough to allow people to "self identify" their gender as it suits them I'm obviously too intellectually challenged to imagine why they should do so.

We didn't have trangenerism when I was a lad. Together with cholesterol, we couldn't afford it.
