they can become sulky

a doctored photograph was produced by the internal organs of the BMJ ( = editorial staff ) - of Dr Dick van Velsen the discredited pathologist of Liverpool - A reader noticed and complained. and humourously and unkindly pointed out the difference between dishonesty in Life and dishonesty in Art, This had the editor biting and scratching because it was before the Bombs and she found doctors in general naughty and not nice.
This is their sulky and off hand reply
I emailed the author and asked how he had done it
and he said - easy - light coming in from two directions .....
