I found out today that Boots will no longer hold repeat prescriptions and order in your medicine for you. Yet another service, which in the main affects the elderly and those with long term conditions, taken away. It is not easy getting old.

I've always used Boots in my village since I moved here 4 years ago, and have never had a problem. Strange how places vary.
It’s probably as ubasses suggests, your CCG has changed its repeat prescription rules, ours has.
Apparently it’s to save money as some people stock pile meds, and some people just keep getting their repeat meds and not using them.
If I was you I’d ask at the surgery and then you’ll know.
Boots is all about money and profit now.

From Wiki.
The parent company, The Boots Company Plc, merged with Alliance UniChem in 2006 to form Alliance Boots. In 2007, Alliance Boots was bought by Kohlberg Kravis Roberts and Stefano Pessina, taking the company private, and moving its headquarters to Switzerland, the first ever FTSE 100 company bought by a private equity firm. In 2012, Walgreens bought a 45% stake in Alliance Boots, with the option to buy the rest within three years. It exercised this option in 2014, and as a result Boots became a subsidiary of the new company, Walgreens Boots Alliance, on 31 December 2014.
Many years ago Boot's had a reputation for giving value for money but they seem to be the dearest on the High Street now.
I have no problems with repeat prescriptions, but I always have to have them authorised by the GP first - doesn't this happen to everyone? I do it online, the GP sends the order to my local pharmacy (there are several, none of them called Boots) and I go to pick it up, though they will delilver if necessary.
I do the same except I do it over the phone which is just as easy.
