Hi all, my freelander TD4 alarm suddenly started to go off for no reason 10 minutes ago, each time I unlock it and it stops and I assume resets itself. When i relock it it goes off again after 30 seconds or so, there’s no reason for this to happen as it’s been stood on my yard and locked since Thursday morning. Are any of you out there freelander owners that have experienced this. Would be grateful for any advice on this one. Thanks

I know nothing about Freelanders but I know what the RAC and AA guys try when the electronics in a vehicle seem to be playing up: They simply disconnect the battery, wait a couple of minutes and then reconnect it. With a bit of luck that will reset the security module.

Worth a try perhaps? (NB: Make sure you know the radio code though, as you'll probably need to re-enter it).
I also have no knowledge of Freelanders but I experienced an identical problem with one of my Passat Estates.
The plastic tubing to the rear window washer jet had become disconnected (opening/shutting tailgate) which allowed water ingress to the wiring loom. Not uncommon fault with Passats. This allowed a continual short.

Thanks both for your answers, sorry I’m so late replying, my phone hone froze and it’s been in repair shop until now I’ve learnt that if I lock it by key it doesn’t go off as it probably the internal sensor, so I’ll just keep doing this as it’s no hastle to me.
