Douglas Murray said, (maybe quoting somebody else), "The only thing worse than religion, is no religion."

G. K. Chesterton said, "When people stop believing in something, they will believe in anything."

Given the downward spiral of our society, what are your thoughts on this?

You could equally argue we are on an upward spiral if you look at the big picture though.
People by and large are more equal, healthcare is better, poverty no longer leads to early death necessarily, the standard of living has improved drastically for the poor over the last 100 years, there is more religious and racial tolerance... the list goes on...
I don't see a downward spiral, yes there is wickedness in some - that has always been.

Suffer the little ones and the weak too.

As for quotes - they abound and there's some that resonate and others that don't.

//"The only thing worse than religion, is no religion."//

That pretty much sets the standard for religion.

//"When people stop believing in something, they will believe in anything."//

When people stop questioning what they believe and why, the truth is the last thing they will believe.

And the truth is?
Question Author
Is it your truth? My truth?
Why not investigate the facts, and derive the truth from them?
Whose facts? Douglas Murray's 'facts'? G. K. Chesterton's 'facts'?
Whatever society is going, I disagree with both statements since neither seems to have any evidence, they're simply opinions the originators seem to want to be true.
So Douglas Murray and Chesterton speak. So what? Both spouting nonsense.
My thoughts are: you need more reliable sources. Preferably from this century.

So please give me something that is not nonsense.
Question Author
Supported by facts that is.
Give it a rest Theland - even your God rested on Sunday.
