Do I have to put up with scam phone calls? The last week or so I kept getting recorded messages saying my IP address was compromised and if I push the hash key or whatever then they would fix it - I rang off! Then I get some strange foreigner who can barely speak English saying I have been hacked. I tell them I don’t have a computer which flummoxes the and they go silent. “Have I got a laptop?” “No!”. I ring off. Then this morning I have some American woman on saying she is from Microsoft asking me if I have a computer (No! But I have). Then she asked if I had a laptop which I don’t ( I have a 10 year old one I never use). I said no, she went quiet then asked what other devices I had. I rang off. But when does no mean no!!

I managed to get a chinese girl ( 888DC640) to swear at me last week ! - my computer kept on 'going off' - and then when asked to press the windows sign, I convulsively pressed the * button on the handset whilst saying 'is that it?'

Have a blocking system on my phone, but they get through nevertheless. I think if the call is outside the U.K. it doesn’t work.
What blocking system have you got. If you are with BT you can Call Protect for free. You can block categories of calls and individual numbers which include overseas calls. After a call we just dial 1572 and have the number blocked. We have also blocked all overseas and unrecognised. We left witheld on there for Dr's and hospital calls.
BT also use the information to start blocking certain numbers for everyone on the system. We rarely get any calls now.
