... but they will probably get a slap on the wrists.

Cats can be really frustrating and devious - I understand why some people dislike them. But these two boys deliberately set their dog on a cat - for their enjoyment.

It saddens me to think that they are the next generation.

Well I'm not into vigilantism but if this was my neck of the woods i'd make sure they had the living *** kicked out of them weekly for a few years. Horrible little scummers, hopefully someone there will do the same thing.
I don't like cats but I am not going to read that link. I think it might upset me.
Yeah good call Tilly, I wish I hadn't read it either :(
"Youth offenders" = apprentice psychopaths.

No pandering, sort them out.

"***"
Sickening act, if they're local they should soon get them - poor owners.
Any cruelty to animals or people upsets me. I would rather not know.
Unlikely. Those who treat pets like that are capable of doing so to humans later. They'll be looking at a gaol term I'd hope.
Yes the Bulger type killers are still around but please don't dismiss a slap on the wrist as a trivial punishment. My word there are ABers who are having apoplexy as we speak if we consider a slap as punishment.
What to do ? Check out some of the posters on the French coach drivers post. They believe boys will be boys and cheeky little imps. :-(

To the thugs, it's 'just a cat', but it is a family member. A friend or relative in a fur coat.

It is not a good sign in the young lads, as Douglas says - apprentice psychopaths.

From the link - Both boys were given a 12-month referral order to the youth offending team and were disqualified from keeping any animal for 10 years. Nowhere near enough. At least their dog has been taken from them.
I'd be in court myself if I'd seen them. And I love dogs too

Mamya@22:24 from the OP link
/// The boys, aged 15 and 17 who cannot be named for legal reasons, appeared in court on Tuesday after admitting causing the death of the cat on Gwaelodygrath Lane in Methyr Tydfil in May.

As bad as setting hounds on foxes - a "sport" so beloved by toffs and Tories.
Retro...you're getting boring now!!

I can't read the link either :-(
Sounds vague to me. What is going to be done to address their offending behaviour ? Sitting in a cell would've given them time to think on what they'd done. Sounds to me like they got off.
Apologies, I didn't scroll far enough - insufficient punishment in my opinion.
Bring back the birch and at 17, once found guilty that one at least should be named and shamed.

Still, I am guessing the local community (and probably social media) will know or out them. I would then expect a similar backlash to that stupid woman who put the cat in a wheely bin.

And yes, I hate cats but we never let our dogs chase them if we could help it.

youngmafbog -

Many people dislike or hate cats but very few would actually do anything to hurt the animal. These thugs set out to hurt or kill this cat. It shows that they have no respect for the life of other animals and, probably, no respect for the rest of the human population.

The wheely bin incident was weird, in one unpremeditated (stupid) action the woman put the cat in the bin and walked off. I don't think that she deserved all the hate and anger aimed at her.
I read about this and saw the video yesterday. It was sickening the way one of the thugs deliberately poked the cat out from under the car with a stick so the dog could chase it. Poor, poor animal, it didn't stand a chance and it was someone's beloved pet. So glad the dog has been taken off this scum, maybe it will have the chance to blossom in a decent home now. Birch the ******** !!!
