Could anyone advise me why a conventional looking wash hand basin tap on the hot water side should operate in the opposite way to all other taps. The flow is fine but to turn on you turn the spindle clock wise and close off flow anti-clockwise. I didn't install this tap.I bought this house just over a year ago with my wife and that's how it has always been. All other taps in the house work normally. Could it be an import from the Southern hemisphere?
It's not a big deal, except for guests, as it works.
Any suggestions please re this anomaly?
Thanks in Advance

I’m more interested in people’s favourite Quality Street sweets if you’d care to go to the relevant post.
I'll just go and check on my taps. :-)

Thanks very much SlackAlice. A useful link and advice. Thanks all for input but I steer clear of chocolate.
Sounds like a tap that should operate on a handle, like in the hospital where surgeons mustn't touch the tap with their hands after washing them. I have a similar style in my bathroom. On is away from centre, off towards it.
They're a set of lever taps that have had handles put on instead.
