Training Certificate

I took part in flt and scissor lift training. I was asked to sign a contract which stated that if I leave within a certain amount of time then I would have to pay for the course. Now I have left the company I have been deducted the cost of training but not given the certificates. Is this legal

Have they refused to give it you and if so have they given a reason, or could it have just been overlooked? I'm assuming you passed the full course

Why weren't you given the certificates when you were still working for the Company - assuming that you met the requirements for "passing" the course?

Passed both qualications and they are refusing to give them to me

They refused to give me the the original or copies because they paid for them. Now I have left I have been deducted the money from wages. It states on wage slip (training deduction). I passed both qualifications.

No idea what flt and scissor lift training might be: will you use the training in your next job ?

Have you asked them for the certificate after you paid for it?

Need to supply them to new employer. Fork lift truck (flt) (scissor lift) is a mobile elevated working platform.

You should ask for them, I don't think they can keep them, especially if you have been deducted the costs. Interestingly my company also has that clause about recouping costs for training if a staff member leaves but HR have long acknowledged that legally they would never be able to enforce it so I would get professional advice. Did you leave really soon after the course? The training provider should also be able to supply you with a copy, almost certainly at a cost.

Passed one course 14 months ago but it lasts for 5 years. The other course was about 2 months ago.
