"We are closely monitoring the horrific shooting," Gov. Larry Hogan tweeted. "Our prayers are with all those impacted, including our first responders. The State stands ready to offer any support." so much for support, how about closing down these crazy gun laws, i despair for the American people, i really do.

Situation secured, so hopefully the shooter is caught (or dead) - let's hope figures don't rise.

Horrible thing to happen.
Tsk, why is there never a 'good guy with a gun' when you need one!!!

AH, looks as if there was, just heard on BBC News Channel that gunman was shot dead on scene.
that was just as well......
EMMIE you’re right about the gun laws but the yanks will never change, this will go on and on for ever more.
As long as they remember the prayers, that's the important bit in all of this.
Ah the old gun law thing again.

Still no one has answered my question on how they would propose the US rounds up over 400million guns?
YMB - // Still no one has answered my question on how they would propose the US rounds up over 400million guns? //

Obviously it's not feasible, much less practical, to simply suggest that Americans stop having guns one day, and hand them all in the next day.

It will take education, and a cultural change in attitudes of seismic proportions to convince a huge amount of Americans that guns are not a good idea.

As a thinking mass of society, America is not even toddling yet, much less walking towards meaningful change.

For all its massive sophistication as a culture, America remains rooted firmly in 'frontier' attitudes - a man has to have a gun to defend his family and property, and that attitude shows absolutely no sign of changing anytime soon.

Add in the enormous financial and political influence of the NRA on government, and the instant political suicide of any President or candidate who even breathes the words 'gun control', and you can see that this is not something that is going to happen for generations yet.

We can only hope that change will eventually come, but it's a safe bet that no-one alive today is going to be around to see even the start, much less the end of that change.
Realistic but pessimistic Andy.
If they made all guns illegal tomorrow, would the baddies give them up?
If I lived there I would always want one to protect myself.
In this country, would it be unreasonable to carry a knife or a long baton, given the crime trends?
Law abiding people are lambs to the slaughter.
/// AH, looks as if there was, just heard on BBC News Channel that gunman was shot dead on scene. ///

Didn't the headline in the link say this "Woman kills 3 before fatally shooting herself"?
Theland - // In this country, would it be unreasonable to carry a knife or a long baton, given the crime trends? //

There you go with those non-Christian sentiments again - you little tinker!

Of course it's unreasonable!

You can't solve violent crime by encouraging none-violent citizens to carry weapons!!!

If weapons get carried, then the potential for those weapons to be used increases, and that is how violence spirals further out of control.

I am surprised at you, unless you are simply playing devil's advocate again? Do please tell me you are...

But you knew that anyway didn't you?
Dozens if not hundreds, of people get shot everyday in the USA. But it is so common it only makes the news if someone is actually killed. Injuries are too common to make even the local news.

We need to remember that the US constitution (therefore the basis of all its laws) gives its citizens ''The Right to Bare Arms'' This means the right to carry a gun is written into the fundamental base of US law. As far as I know such a law is not part of any other countries constitution.
Question Author
They have the right to roll their sleeves up.
