Short Of Breath

Hi all,

I'm 60 years old, 6ft 1, about 20 stone. The only exercise I do is walking, I usually walk at least 30 minutes a day.

Over the last fortnight, I am continually running short of breath. I can only walk for about 5 or 6 minutes before I have to stop and catch my breath. Walking up stairs is just as bad.

I stopped smoking 12 years ago.

Is this serious enough to go see my GP?

Thanks all in advance.

Yes, please see your GP as soon as you can.
With respect, I think the fact that you weigh 20 stone is enough for you to see your GP.
Do you have any kind of chest infection Tubbycotes or have you had a cold That is what brings on my breathlessness I am asthmatic but it is it is usually controlled unless I have an infection. It was the same before I lost weight so whilst my weight didn't help it didn't cause it
Definitely GP even if it is just to confirm it is still safe to exercise
I would see the GP - due to the fact that the symptoms have come on relatively quickly.

Thanks all,

I'll ring first thing.
Whatever size or age you are...if you suffer fatigue too it can be a sign of low or deficient vitamins...D and B12 to mention too. Also if your iron is low, that gives same symptoms too. Hope you get better soon after seeing GP.
