Does anyone know why Postman Pat took his cat out on his rounds? I could understand a dog for protection, but a cat? The only reason that I can think of is that Cat rhymes with Pat.

Judging by the amounts of posts on this site it would seem that pussy is very popular. Appeals to the kids maybe?
i think there's an elf and safety diktat preventing posties from taking their dogs to work ... don't know if it covers cats

What will Postman Pat be called when he retires?
You know it's not a documentary, I suppose?
Google Postman Pat adult version. Very bad language but quite funny.
Hopkirk, you stole my best joke :-(
Google Thomas the Tank engine Adult version. That has ripe language also. Try saying the Fat controller with a bad stammer. :-)
Wolf, talking of cats, where are your little cherubs ?
I wish you hadn't asked this question, Susan, as Postman Pat gets very embarrassed by his little medical problem. He can't help the fact that, however often he washes, he always smells faintly of fish. (That, of course, explains why Jess follows him everywhere he goes).
I prefer (though we never saw him) Larry Grayson's postman; 'Pop it in Pete' to Postman Pat.

Sorry, I couldn't get back to this thread - I have been at Oxfam attempting to get the weekly accounts to balance and I posted some books for sale on the Oxfam website.

Meanwhile, my 'kittens' slept and they met me at the door upon my return, they either missed me or they were hungry.
Well, a bat would have been more unlikely.
