I believe an electric powered glider type aircraft has flown using solar energy.
Yes, they are working on electric planes

And boats

And in factthe solar Impulse has flown around the world on only electric power

Electric cars are coming. I've been in a number and they are very fast, silent and rapid acceleration.

Sooner or later, the cost will come down enough that it makes sense for people to buy electric rather than internal combustion.

Space rockets are a different matter – the drive system is more difficult.

Rather than use fossil fuels, the aim is to use electricit generated from wind. wave and solar power to power the transport network.

Cleaner and greener than oil :)
Could they make an electric plane?

It would need a long cable!!!!
The plan is to have them all flying from the North Pole, Dave, so it's all downhill.
they just refuel from other planes in midair, so long cables are not necessary. To save time they'll have two planes side by side, each recharging the other.
Ah, thanks douglas, that answers is.
Wot like jump start jets.?
Just been ‘taxied’ home in a Toyota hybrid. Driver told me max he gets is 54mpg. Load of cobras.
This is the aircraft I mentioned earlier. It looks like a powered glider and circumnavigated the world.

Thanks everyone.

I think as long as the electrical generation engine is cost effective most transport will go electric.

Mind you we’ll be knackered when a thermonuclear device explodloads lol
so long as they get every vehicle owner a plug in point ??? .... like people living in houses with street parking only, all high rise living people, the list is endless, if you go to mainland Europe nearly all residents live in multi storey buildings, think of all the "i tripped over a car charging cable" claims, mass electric transport wont work !
Derek, you might want to read this. Necessity is the mother of invention.
https://www.techradar.com/uk/news/wireless-electric-vehicle-charging
i know about this wireless recharging it's more impossible than plug in ,have you noted the logistics of doing this (billions of £s) on every street and the fighting over who charging what car over whose spot etc as i said it will never work,
Necessity is the mother of invention.

I don't know, that seems to suggest that if people have electric cars, ways of charging them will have to be invented. But Shirley it's much more likely to be the other way round?? People aren't going to buy them unless they're sure they'll be able to charge them.
Plus for Tesla best range of any electric car quoted as 360 miles for one model, minuses the hefty price tags on all except the basic model 3 which allegedly will retail at $35k - £24k
I'm working on a steam driven plane in my garden shed.
Progress is slow but onwards and upwards.
I use coal for the boiler.
