I've not heard the term 'gold company' in this context. If gold means being in the FTSE 100, Royal Mail did return to the FTSE 100 this year after being relegated last year

Johnson Matthey here in my home town Royston Hertfordshire, run the largest Gold Refinery in Europe. They are one of, if not 'The' worlds largest Gold companies. From mining to Jeweler they are one of the top names in Silver Gold and Platinum . Two of my 3 sons work in their refinery. I sometimes work in their kitchen as an assistant chef.
They are the largest 'Gold Company' in Europe.

I used to think that Costco must be made of gold.

Yes, we were members for a year but I found I was buying things I didn’t really need to justify the membership cost.
