Anyone else love the new John Lewis and Waitrose advert. Hope this link works if you haven't seen it.

A brilliant but very expensive advert, since one has to be quick to catch what it is they are actually advertising.
what a great ad, so inventive.
1. It's not a Christmas ad.
2. It's not actually advertising anything....simply announcing a "re-branding" (adding "and partners" to both "John Lewis" and "Waitrose")
3. I think the £4 million could have been used more usefully.
Very expensive advert just to let us know they are re-branding!
Love it...but...
There I am thinking that for any school to do something like this...it *has* to be a private one.
Oh dear I'm being a cynic...
You'd be amazed at some of the state school productions, Pasta. I have produced and have seen many wonderful, inventive ones, full of talent and obviously the product of hard work.

They are very stressful though...
"and partners" empowers the staff, or so the girl who sold me a lamp said!

Possibly the word "partnership" may have given some people the idea that JL wasn't a limited company - their solicitors may be happy?
It's a great ad, I bet the kids really enjoyed making it :-)
o god gungjbee is being Mrs Grumpy today
hey mrs G ! its raining outside as well today !

£4m well spent if it gets us to talk about it and waitrose and jey-elle and istn it all wonderful etc

the marketeers have a word for it - brand identification ? or something. Getting the brand into our minds is at least half the struggle

[yeah OK BA being hacked - bad bad bad....]
it was good but no wonder they are expensive stores if they can spend 4 million on a 2 min ad x
It's ok, I guess. to be honest though I never got the hype about the 'C' word ones either.

IMO, it's a shame they had to piggyback on a classic song if the union is so great.
Piggybacking on a classic is so they catch the audience that grew up with that classic.

Tilly, thanks for a first hand viewpoint. It's been so long since lil pasta was in school...
Absolutely love it, especially when the spaceships fly over and they show the amazement on the audience's faces! Much better than any Christmas ad ...
