And eastern European dancers :-(
I was on a training course in Edinburgh one August and the pipers were to be playing at the castle.

Alas I felt terribly ill and had to return to the hotel.

It is a lovely city but not nearly as nice as Perth.

It's a tattoo, Melv. You have to have Aztecs. Aztecs come with the territory.

Bagpipes on horseback now!
Are you actually IN the capital or watching it from somewhere warm?

Here is something to keep you going

Always worth watching, especially if the Basel Top Secret Drum Corps appear as they have done this year - fabulous.
The event is called The Edinburgh Royal Military Tattoo. I'm aware that many of the groups performing are members of the armed forces of foreign countries but others are clearly not. I presume the "Royal" is included as a courtesy, but what has happened to the "Military" element of the title?
It used to be the preponderant feature, but I find the whole thing more and more unwatchable as the years go by. Sure it's fun watching rifle-drill teams and maniacal drummers, but do they make a military tattoo?

More massed pipes'n'drums and less exotic dancing, I say!
I just caught the last 5 minutes on TV, the pipes still reduced me to floods. Definitely off again next year, especially as they've improved the seating. Never seen so many people glad to stand for the National anthem.
