What puts me off buying an iPod is that you cannot 'queue up' songs whilst on the go - you have to have previously created a playlist. However, I have searched a little and cannot seem to find an MP3 player that does have this function. Do they simply not do it, or is there one out there for me after all?

They may do, it's just a bit hard to be able to do it easily on a device that's so small with so few buttons.

You can add songs using the iPod to an on-the-go playlist, which basically does what you want.

But, how often or for what reason do you want to do this? Most people just want to use the device to listen to the music, not faff about adding it to different playlists.
You can do this with an ipod as fo3nix says.

select each song and hold down the middle button for a few seconds and it adds on to the end of an 'on-the-go' playlist.
