I am enjoying half a punnet of strawberries with a little milk every day now made into a milk shake. Was wondering would the natural sugars of the strawberries not be good for you.

No better nor worse than any other sugar. Why the concern ?
Question Author
concern is people tell you that the natural sugars are just as bad as ordinary sugar - I'm trying to tell myself that they are my 2 or 3 a day. To think in the past that I threw out too ripe bananas when I could have made them into a shake too.

The strawberries are lovely from Iceland - I've tried most of the supermarkets and find theirs a little tart.
One is unlikely to avoid all sugar. Probably best to note how much is in the ingredients and count them towards your healthy daily amount/limit.
Berries are an excellent source of all sorts of vitamins and the benefits far outweigh the sugar concerns. Enjoy them and don't worry about it

I have joined the gym -well paid for the membership LOL - haven't done any training yet. Will have to get started next week.

thanks HC - do enjoy them in the shake form.
JJ...if you are going to eat fruit, berries of any kind are the best choice as they have less sugar than other types. Also, you are better off eating fruit in its natural form rather than in smoothies...too easy to eat too much that way.
Personally, I'd have cream rather than milk. Less natural sugar in it.
Question Author
pasta are you really saying that cream is not as fattening as semi-skimmed milk
If you ate half a punnet of strawberries your body would have to work to digest them and your body would break the sugars down naturally, however by pureeing them and making them into a drink your body doesn't have to work to break them down and you are flooding your body with the sugars.
Will have more fat in it. Suspect way more calories.
Double cream has 458 calories per 100ml; semi skimmed milk has 48.6
Double cream has 2.38 g of carbohydrate; semi skimmed milk 5.01
Double cream has 48.38g of fat; ss milk 1.7g

Cream may have less sugar but you will certainly gain more weight from cream than semi skimmed milk. The amount of sugar in milk is only a real concern if you are diabetic

Ahhh...but you are likely to use more than 100ml of milk...and just a tablespoon or two of cream. Or, use full fat milk if you must. Tastier and the difference in fat content with skimmed is negligible.
