Ok, so I react badly to hair dyes, and last time doctor insisted I went to hospital as my head had swollen so much, and my eyes sealed shut. Sooooo, I’ve been looking online researching, and I found a product called Coloursafe, which contains no ammonia, no PPD’s, resorcinol and parabens free. Still thought I’ll do a patch test to be on the safe side.
It suggested either inner forearm or behind ear, so I did both. This was 2 hours ago. I already have a red , sore itchy circle of skin about 3 inches across in both places. Why?? What an I reacting to??
I refuse to go grey as I get older so what on earth is left that I can try?
I have brown hair btw. Would going lighter help??
So fed up! Grrrr.....

number one cut?
Are you allergic to anything else (not just on your skin)?

For example, if you've got a wheat allergy the wheat protein that Natur Vital uses in that hair colourant might be the cause of the problem.
Highlights? I don't think highlights are done with bleach.

Not allergic to anything else that I know of, though when I reacted so badly last time my doctor said that I will now have another allergy as they always come in twos(??)
Would cut hair short but I look silly with short hair. I draw the line at the Action Man look lol.
Highlights........ hmmmmm
Well I have highlights and it does not wash out so would have thought it had bleach. With highlights the mixture does not really touch your skin as you have silver foil placed round the strands. I find that they cover a lot of my grey nd look more natural. Have a word with a hairdresser might be worth looking at having done.

How long is your hair riptide?
Why do you "refuse" to go grey? Hate to say it, but it happens to us all. I coloured my Auburn hair briefly years ago but eventually decided it was too much hassle, and I should do what I'd always said I would when younger. Go grey gracefully. Now I get compliments on my natural colour.
Have you tried henna? Lush do a range of henna dyes. You would have to check out what else is in them though
Some people are so sensitive it's really not worth the risk.
I have used these products in the past, not for sensitivity but because they are really gentle.

Of course highlights are done with bleach or a bleaching agent usually a combination of peroxide and boosting powder which contains ammonia. A toner is added if you don't want too extreme ones. The fumes from chemical dyes will also be a risk factor.
How about drawing attention from the root area with a coloured wash on the lower half of your hair.

Grey is still very on trend though

I used to have highlights for years, then I realised my natural grey hair was blending very well. So I stopped highlighting and went grey naturally.

Why don’t I want to go grey naturally? I just don’t lol.
Personal choice. I agree it looks fab on some people but I know it won’t on me.
If my hair was the gorgeous silver some people go I would stop having highlights, trouble is I haven't seen my natural hair colour for 50 odd years so have no idea what colour it is ;-))
I'd sooner be grey than risking making an allergy worse.....but yes, each to their own.
I'm 70...my grey hair has been called blonde.
I'd rather that, than take chances with dyes and allergic reactions. That's one of the things that influenced me not to continue colouring.
