I have completed the crossword (I think), but I am looking for understanding of the parsing of a few of the clues:

24A: Feeds girl from the right society (5). I have DINES. I can see DI for "girl", but I can't parse the rest.
1D: What gets crazed Turkish bigshot around the island (10). I have MADAGASCAR. I can see MAD AGA for "crazed Turkish bigshot"
21D: Badger to maul tailless equine (6). I have HARASS. I can see ASS for equine.
23D: English composer's time for recital (4). I have (Lionel) BART, but I can't work this one out at all.

24a Enid
Mad aga's car
23d BYRD, sounds like 'bird', prison time
har(M) (maul tailless) + ass (equine)
Unconvincingly 21 har[m]+ass?

Many thanks all. I was stuck with DI for girl (as has been usual in crosswords) rather than ENID, and I had forgotten about William BYRD.
"The spring is sprung, the grass is riz.
I wonder where the boidie is.
They say the boidie’s on the wing.
But that’s absoid. The wing is on Byrd."

the Byrd
Thanks to the Qs & As above, I don't need to be calling for help on Prize Day. What a cracking crossword! Picaroon - my favourite, along with Arachne. His first novel, A Moment before Drowning, will be ordered, now.
