A Heads Up To All Opera Lovers.

No question but for anybody who's interested.
Arguably the best opera tenor in the world at present, Jonas Kaufmann, is doing an open air concert in Berlin on 30th August. It's being screened live at cinemas all over the world at 8pm that evening if you're interested. I love him, I'll be there if I can.

I have an issue with Jonas Kauffman being called a tenor, his voice leans more to being a baritone.

But he's not a baritone Danny is he? I agree he is not the lyric tenor he once was, his voice has dropped but he has a huge range. I don't really care what label you put on his voice, I want to hear it. Still, I have read, the most sought after singer today.
And he's gorgeous;-)

There's no doubt that Jonas Kaufmann is great and Andrea Bocelli is fantastic; considering that he is blind and cannot therefore read written music.

However, I consider that the best Lyrical Tenor of the past decade, is Rolando Villazon :-

Thank you all for your replies.
Can't stand Villazon and won't listen to him. I much prefer Roberto Alagna singing Una Furtiva Lagrima.
Bocelli has a nice (pretty) voice but is a popera singer who is often flat and not in time because he can't see the conductor.
We are never going to agree on this so I'll leave it there.

Shame you can't make it gness, I doubt there will be an encore. BTW every time I type your name, it gets changed to guess. Flaming annoying.

I acknowledge that Roberto Alagna has an outstanding voice . However, if we are comparing great tenors, then I am going to say that a truly lyrical Bel Canto, who was possible the greatest of all tenors, must be John McCormack. Please have a listen to a 1910 recording of the youngest lead singer to perform a Covent Garden.:-
