Should they all be sent back to Europe where they came from 300 years ago or what?

Similar to my partner Pasta he has an Italian grandmother and then English, Scots and Irish he thought (turns out though when we did his family tree that the Irish were actually English / Scottish settlers on the opposite side of things to my Irish family, also had a nasty visit with Cromwell -oops) but he thinks of England and Ireland separately to Europe which is odd to me. They can send him back to England if they like that'd make me happy x
ummmm

/// How do you know that, AOG? ///

Because their ancestors are still in America and Europe, in fact they are now swarming into Europe, voluntarily.
Are the many 300-year old folk in America?

Is the word 'ancestors' one you have never heard of or perhaps don't know what it means.
What colour immigrants? That’s the unspoken question round here, is it not?
I think of myself as *more* Italian American...that side of the family had the most influence on me. Only met one uncle on dad's side.
Will have to disagree AOG. As someone who has experience of American multiculturalism, I'd say it's worked quite well...obviously with ups and downswing the way.
Why would someone who hasn't stepped foot in Africa strive to go back there?
"downsing"?....downs along
ummmm

They still like to hang on to the name ie Afro-American.

And still criticise those bad white persons who took their ancestors from their homes.
bainbrig, //What colour immigrants? That’s the unspoken question round here, is it not? //

The question isn't unspoken. The OP refers to Europeans .... indigenously white.
Because that's their heritage. Pasta sees herself as Italian/American and how many Irish/Americans are there? I would guess that most Irish Americans have never stepped a foot in Ireland either.
Aog, Irish Americans, Italian Americans, Native Americans, African Americans …. Whatever …..Americans like to cling to their ancestry.
ANOTHEOLDGIT Ihave heard of the word "ancestors" and know its meaning. However, that word doesn't appear in the question.

Of course people like to hang onto their ethnic rots america is a very young country in terms of immigration so people do remember ' the old country' because they will have been influenced by people who could remember it first hand. None of that takes away from the fact that slavery was a terrible and inflicted thing, and it also doesn't mean people who have had no experience of that continent ought to suddenly swarm back to Africa now they are no longer present on white people's original terms. Multiculturalism generally works really well in the States.
What about the original inhabitants? Give them back their lands.
Then we can return the mere 325 million in USA and say let's add
Brazil and send its 260 million back to Portugal? After all there are only 508 million here in the EU so we need more company. And Canada can return its 36 million too as we have loads of room in England we only have 65 million folk here. Then lets add in the West Indies and Peru and Chile and Mexico etc etc. About 386 million. They can all stay with me as I have a spare bedroom and a nice garden and I cd make sandwich lunches and if all the poor folk in Australia and NZ came home etc etc we could have a pure world! how super duper.
