Wild Rabbits.

Been looking for a new house for months.
I liked the place I went to today, but the vendor told me there are lots of wild rabbits in the garden. It’s very rural.
Actually, he didn’t need to tell me. The evidence was all over the garden!
Every step I took on the grass, it sunk in, so there must be lots of rabbit warrens underneath.

Is this a concern? Could they get under the house and damage the foundations?

dunnitall and hereIam - Why not try reading the posts properly - I never once mentioned killing the rabbits I merely asked if the warrens underneath the grass would be a problem.
Jeez - I’m not some sort of rabbit serial killer!

I had a call from the agent yesterday.
Said I liked the property, could see the potential, but because of the spongy grass and poo, won’t be pursuing it any further.

Good luck in your re-joined search - I know just how frustrating it can be - but you are right with the rabbit house, if something bothers you about a place it's fatal to go ahead in false hope. I did that once and ended up regretting it, but luckily I moved again within a few years and got a fair price on the sale.

I sold up and moved out last September, and decided to rent rather than rush and buy an ’it’ll do.’

So far it’s either been right house, wrong location or wrong house, right location.
Only 2 the that I’ve really liked - rabbit garden, and one that had a hideous corrugated tin farm building right in front of the kitchen window.

It seems to be taking ages, but I’m determined to get it right!

All I said was if you fear the problem with rabbits then don't touch! I didn't say you or anyone else wanted to kill them Bigbad.... It was my opinion in an answer to your post. If you didn't like it...do one! I'm annoyed that my answer was misconstrued and no apology given.

Good luck with finding the right place, it isn't always easy.

We once stayed in a cottage in the grounds of a grand house - the lawns resembled Watership Down territory at times there were so may gorgeous rabbits. But what's great for a holiday may become tedious full time.

I have no intention of “doing one” particularly from my own thread.

Why can’t people on here give conflicting opinions without resorting to unpleasantness?

Just for the record, my last house was very rural, I had all sorts in the garden - squirrels, pheasants, muntjac, magpies, jays, woodpeckers and lots of small garden birds.
I spent a small fortune feeding them all.
I only ever had a couple of rabbits in the 10 years I lived there, and even started a thread about one I was concerned for.
