It seems that as a society we constantly make excuses for Islam and how it impacts on us.
People standing up to it are vilified, called right wing extremists and even jailed.

It takes a step back and a realistic appraisal of the dangers, as Pat Condell does.

Can you fault his opinions?

AOG - // /// I do however hate hypocrisy. ///

I have - in my posts to Theland, which are relevant to this thread.

Your perceptions of my behaviour are not, and I am not going to derail the thread by discussing them further with you.
Christianity the religion of peace and love.
How many have been killed and tortured throughout time because they believed in the 'wrong' sort of christianity?

I am perfectly happy to accept that all faiths in the world have a set of wonderful rules for peaceful coexistence, and they are corrupted and manipulated by a minority for their own ends.

What I have trouble with is people who claim to be Christian, who fail to see the clear faults in their own faith as practised by manipulators, and see it only in others.

That is hypocrisy, and it does not sit well with people who say they worship a loving God who preaches tolerance and forgiveness for all.

I don't think that a loving God would wish one to be trampled underfoot, without first giving up a fight, isn't that how Saints are made?
Andy-hughes, //I am perfectly happy to accept that all faiths in the world have a set of wonderful rules for peaceful coexistence//

I can name one that doesn’t have a set of wonderful rules for a peaceful coexistence - not even between men and women of the same faith. Any guesses?

True ..... but the history of Christianity doesn’t negate what’s always happened and what’s happening to this day with another religion.

And while we’re at it, again this thread isn’t about Theland’s religion.
Are We Scared Of The Truth?

You certainly seem to be, Theland. You give over a worrying amount of your time to 'debunking' science and religions of which you disapprove.
The truth is that you cannot, and never will be able to, prove that (your) God exists. And saying that he *must* exist because I am, personally, unable to explain the mysteries attached to the origins of the universe is an extraordinarily weak argument.
I believe that you are spending more of your time concentrating on Islam than Christianity, which hands a perverse vistory to the muslim fundamentalists who wish to sow discord and disharmony. You are doing their work for them.
Few people are unaware of the threats posed to our safety and security and even fewer 'make excuses' for them.
You seem to be confusing the reluctance of ABers members to become embroiled in circular, Groundhog Day, threads where they will be insulted on one level or another, with a general malaise, or indifference, towards Islamic fundamentalism.
jack - I would entirely endorse your point, but I expect that you, as I, will remain unanswered by Theland.

It seems to be Theland's preferred MO - start a debate, insult a few people, get some valid responses and challenges, withdraw and post again another day.
// True ..... but the history of Christianity doesn’t negate what’s always happened and what’s happening to this day with another religion. //

It doesn't entitle Christianity to shriek about injustice and misogyny as though it is utterly free from both concepts either.
To be fair to Theland, he admitted the other day that he doesn’t know how he should treat ‘aliens’ and asked for guidance on here. I posted this link to references from his bible which I hope will help him find the answers he is looking for:

andy-hughes, //It doesn't entitle Christianity to shriek about injustice and misogyny as though it is utterly free from both concepts either. //

As far as I can see Christianity isn't shrieking here - but there's plenty of shrieking coming from people who are unwilling to address the issue and so point a finger of deflection elsewhere.

Have you guessed yet?
AOG - // I don't think that a loving God would wish one to be trampled underfoot, without first giving up a fight, isn't that how Saints are made? //

As an atheist, I have no idea, and I don't care.

But I think that is a topic for another thread - feel free to start one if you wish, I will be happy to join in.

You are confusing me with someone who plays childish games - again.
andy-hughes, no confusion on that score here. Around the houses you go again. ;o)
I said this before that people like Theland are distressed because Christianity in the Europe (or all over in the West) is almost near its ending. That is due to false belief. If I were to ask Theland (and I have asked once before) to prove that he is the true believer of Jesus ACCORDING TO HIS OWN BIBLE then I doubt that he would be willing to prove and perhaps would doubt “THE WORDS OF GOD” in his own book. And if he is willing to do that then I will leave Islam today and become a Christian. So come on Theland.

Having said that all, how many Muslim countries have been invaded by the Western countries in last 10 to 15 years alone? An idiot was talking about Saudi Arabia and saying what the Saudis do is Islam. Then in that case a huge number of countries in the world and many (millions) people including me are not Muslims then. Then the other things he was talking about just reminded me of a few here on AB who depends on a handful of websites for their knowledge about Islam.

Finally, Naomi, thanks for asking on the other thread as I don’t regularly pop in so could not reply there. Marrakech was very good and especially Atlas Mountains day trip was nice. Although I did not like food and in that regard believe that Turkey is better.
Keyplus, // I doubt that he would be willing to prove and perhaps would doubt “THE WORDS OF GOD” in his own book.//

The bible isn’t claimed to be the word of God.

//just reminded me of a few here on AB who depends on a handful of websites for their knowledge about Islam.//

Not me …. as you know. ;o)

I’m pleased you enjoyed Marrakech. Even if you didn’t like the food much, the place was a new experience for you.
