Had a tree cut down, it was quite big so they left the stump and I now put a plant pot on it.

The tree surgeon put something on to stop it regrowing but a couple of years on its sprouting again.

Is there anything I could do to stop the re growth? Company I used are no longer trading.

I've been doing that but they just come back within weeks,

the reason I asked them to put the stuff on was cos I didn't want to have to keep doing this.
Wonder why they're no longer trading.

All I can tell you is that, in the past I've seen ads re stuff that'll kill the root; but presumably that's whst they used. Try a web search ?
Three choices. Dig it up. Grind it down. Chemical stump killer.

This company tend to supply in trade quantities. The link shows you what uou need to solve your problem once and for all .. the plugs are very easy to use.

The following works with most species: Strip the bark down to or just below ground level (as far as it readily strips). Do this by separating it from the wood at the top (i.e. the cut) and pull it outward - it will usually break into vertical strips. Some go further by applying a generous film of used engine oil (available from your nearest garage, half litre should be ample) onto the cut (i.e. the horizontal circular surface). If you get sprouting from the roots then break off the new growth.

Thanks all for your suggestions, will give some a go and see what happens.
A cheap and effective method to stop it re-sprouting, is to drill a series of holes about 1"- 1.1/2" deep, close to the edge of the cut surface of the stump, fill the holes with rock salt, then plug the holes with clay, or cover with plastic sheeting.
The salt will work its way down through the vascular system, gradually killing it off. The holes must be drilled close to the edge though, like the numerals on a clock.
Drill holes and keep topping them up with diesel. It works
Copper nails and diesel. Sort any thoughts of growth out quicksmart.
I had a palm tree cut down about 8 years ago and it still shoots occasionally. I just spray the shoots with Roundup and they soon die off. The old stump is gradually rotting naturally.
