Is anyone else detecting that end of summer feeling? It's silly really because when I was at school the summer was just starting being that we were breaking up for the holidays. Now, I find that the countryside is looking a bit tired and I can detect a feel that it will be over too soon.

How can it be the end of summer? The kids are only just breaking up for their holidays!
A great variety of climates here Rowan.
Alpine to rain forest to arid desert and everything in between.

Life isn't all beach bunnies in bikinis, sob sob ;-(
Like I said, you only see the beaches and the deserts on tv. I love the idea of a a kangaroo in the snow going. #### me it's cold yes I know they've in the hot bits, but I have a strange imagination.

I knew there was a reason I like you ;-/

Keep the grin happening, even when you're sleeping!
Makes them wonder what you are up to. Or dreaming about

Well its still very warm here in the S.E. the hot summer has just gone on and on, and this morning on the radio they said its expected to last at least another month, so no its nowhere near Autumn yet.
Fall, shortened from the phrase fall of the leaf, was common in England in the 17th century.
No 237 I'm not getting the 'end of summer feeling', but I wish I was !!! Sick to death now of over hot days when I start sweating minutes after walking out the door and not being able to sleep at night and grass everywhere turning to straw and young trees dying for lack of water - roll on autumn !

^ I`m hoping it goes on for a little while longer but it won't be long before there is dew on the grass, long shadows and large brown spiders in the garden. I wouldn't mind suffering winter if we had summers like this one every year. Alas, it's probably not to be.
as Vulcan says, "fall" is a British word, going back to the 1500s; the Americans took it with them when they emigrated, then the British switched to autumn. Like aluminum, which used to be the British spelling too.
Got ahead of myself there.
