Hello, I am doing okay with today's crossword. But, my Granddaughter has asked me for a lifetimes worth of advice so I have decided to ask you helpful folk.

All I could think to say was "Do what you want as long as no one is negatively affected by what you want to do, and try not to get too emotional about things".

Be the best you can at whatever you turn your hand to.....you may not achieve excellence in all but, in time and experience, you will find your true metier to excel at - and it's that you should maximise - and enjoy life.

All my dad ever said was 'You do your best.'.
My advice to my kids was 'If you aim for the top of the trees, you may never get far off the ground. If you aim for the moon you may hit the top of the trees.' Elder daughter became AAAs pentathlon champion and represented GB. Younger one only just missed that, but was triple-jump champion.

I've told eldest granddaughter the same. She's 12 and applied for, and has got, prefect status for her last year at middle school. The other two are a bit young and their parents are somewhat easy-going.

Be the best that you can be withthe gifts that you have. My dad's 'do your best' worked OK.
