Salty Taste

is it usual in this hot weather for a persons skin to taste salty? my son was just licking some ice-cream off a finger and said it tasted salty, I suggested he licked the back of his hand and that was the same, has anyone else come across this

that was my first thought but he isn't sweating

It 's a sign of quite severe impending dehydration.
First you lose water (fluid ) and then as this gets worse, you lose salt.
He needs to hydrate quickly, but at this stage,I would not give him salt by mouth.

Guess I'd better re- hydrate quickly. I've just been out for a walk with the dog...and salty sweat just dripped from my forehead. Sorry if tmi.
