The Bangles

I really like the Bangles but it frustrates me that every single discussion on YouTube or elsewhere focuses on Susanna Hoff's beauty and not the music they made, or even the other members of the band. Would this happen to a male group? Is it that the male fans just STILL can't quite cope with a pretty little lady playing guitar so they just talk about her sexually to mentally put her back in the kitchen/bedroom?! Or is this just part and parcel of being a female pop star- the adoration from male fans?

Yeah, it's not like Jon Bon Jovi or Steve Perry were ever objectified by the sisterhood.

If Ms Hoffs wasn't so, some might say, borderline attractive she'd be working in Burger King and busking that nasal whine when she clocked off.

I saw the Bangles in 86.
I can't remember talking about Susanna Hoff sexually and I just about coped with her guitar playing.

That’s not a good picture of them but Susanna is on the left as you look at it. Having had the pleasure of meeting Ms Hoffs twice, I can totally understand

They're all beautiful. I don't see how you can pick one out over the others.

This reminds me of Julia Roberts when 'someone' said she was beautiful. She replied with something like "I find that really insulting."

Ok, Julia, you're a great actress and ... erm ... you are very good-looking. I'll take your 'insults'.

No offence to Julia but I think she's average looking. And the Bangles don't look so very different that there's much to distinguish one from the other three.

I think it is part of men liking attractive women - they tend to comment on it - a lot.

Of course, find someone 'beautiful' is entirely subjective - and it's a fair point that it should not de-rail a discussion about the band as a band, and not as 'beautiful women'.
