My new car's door mirrors show cars too far away! When I picked it up from the dealer and drove on the motorway I pulled out and the car was nearly on top of me! I never had this on my previous cars. and it is a little disconcerting! I will be careful of course but some cars have a warning etched into the mirror glass but not mine.
Does anyone know where I can buy a set of decals to put at bottom of the mirror glass as a reminder? Have trawled internet but no luck .Thanks everyone

Ge the glass changed to standard glass, I've seen mirrors that make things closer but never further away, that's absolutely dangerous.
Sorry I thought it was a serious decal - not a joke!

I know trash panda. When the car looks quite far away and thenI look thru my interior mirror it is nearly on top of me! I might get mirror glass change but car is a new Peugeot 2008.
I have seen this on some other cars with a warning etched into the glass.
The ones on Amazon are unavailable, maybe a car accessory store?

My Daughter's mirrors have a rim of light that shows when a following vehicle is a given distance behind.

I am puzzled as to why you need a warning etched into the glass when you know about the problem?

Very smart Mamyalynne!
Thanks everyone for your thoughts. I am sure I will get used to I as I have only had car for a week and do not use motorways much. It was just a shock to see the car in the distance in my door mirror and then looking in the rear view it was almost about to pass me!
Thanks again

Side-view mirror with legend

Wing mirror on Korean-specification vehicle. Legend in Korean reads "Objects in mirror are closer than they appear".
Main article: Wing mirror
The phrase "objects in (the) mirror are closer than they appear" is a safety warning that is required[1] to be engraved on passenger side mirrors of motor vehicles in the USA, Canada, Nepal, India and Saudi Arabia. It is present because while these mirrors' convexity gives them a useful field of view, it also makes objects appear smaller. Since smaller-appearing objects seem farther away than they actually are, a driver might make a maneuver such as a lane change assuming an adjacent vehicle is a safe distance behind, when in fact it is quite a bit closer.[2] The warning serves as a reminder to the driver of this potential problem.
