I am really enjoying the re-runs of this classic comedy, I did watch them the first time round, and it's wonderful to see a setting from a by-gone, some would say gentler age.

The protocols and hierarchies make for wonderful comedy, and it's a reminder of how cute Wendy Richard was as a young actress with her pretty little turned-up nose, he flawless skin and her fabulous legs.

How sad to think to think that every single member of the main cast is no longer with us.

I think Mike Berry is still around but the rest are long gone. I remember watching it years ago when my mother turned to me and asked why everyone laughed when Mrs Slocombe talked about her pussy. I had to use the most delicate of terms to explain the double- entendre.

jacdaw - Quitre possibly - as are some of the peripheral cast - Mr Grace's secretary and nurse are, I am pretty sure, but the original core cast are all sadly gone now.
Wendy Richard - mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.
Mike Berry played the role of Mr Spooner, taking over from Trevor Bannister who played Mr Lucas. He was in every episode from 1981 - 1985 when the series ended so I think he counts as a main character.
The last of the original cast to depart was Nicholas Smith, who played Mr Rumbold.
Oh, I did love this programme and I'm still laughing out loud at the reruns. That doesn't happen very often, sadly
